A friend of mine posted the one of those "pass it on" challenges the other day. The idea is that, without using Google or other external methods, you have to come up with something in a certain category that starts with the first letter of your last name and then repost for others to do on their wall. It's pretty boring on its own (as those things tend to be). So, my partner and I decided to spruce it up and make it competitive.

Pictured: Not actually a registered trademark. But it makes sense later!

Here are the rules:

1: Pick 10 categories randomly. Paste them into a table and cover them somehow - we used Microsoft Word's highlight feature with the same color as the text.

You can use the categories below as your first ones, but it's also easy to find lists of categories online.

2: Pick a letter. You can use a shared last name if you have one. Or just use a random letter generator. But it's important to use the same letter.

3: Put on some music! Set the mood!

Here is the playlist we put on repeat (requires Spotify, but there are similar things on YouTube and such).

4: Reveal the categories one by one. Give yourselves a 30 second timer. If you both want more time at the end, you can restart it (but only if both of you agree). You get points for each time you are able to use the letter at the start of a word.

For example, in our game, "Brassiere" is 1 point, "Brownish-Burgundy Brandy Berry Beverage" is 5 points.

5: Alternate between picking a real item versus one you make up.

Do as we say, not as we do. In our scorecard, we were still figuring out the rules as we went, so it doesn't quite follow. But we did end up doing half and half real vs made up.

Also, a fictional character is still "real" for these purposes. It's a *real* fake item/character/etc.

6: If you pick a word that is a trademark or comes exclusively from a copyrighted work, mark it! Congratulations, you used an *owned word*! For fighting the corporate overlords you get an extra point for each copyright (©) and two points for each trademark (® and ™).

You can look up trademarks here and registered copyrighted works here. Or you can just use Google.

7: If you have to look up a word your opponent uses, mark it with a footnote. (And they get an extra point!)

Pictured: Our scorecard. Had a great time with it.

Have a happy, hilarious, and heartwarming time in your households, you hysterical humans!
