Literal Insanity

Crazy they will call us;

Mad, they all will say.

And for our own safety,

they shall lock us all away.

Don't think in certain terms

or kiss your freedoms goodbye.

Unfortunately, we can't do that:

cursed to have stars for eyes.

Seeing our surroundings just fine

but also what the world could be.

If that threatens the current order,

why would they let us be free?

I suppose we fit their criteria.

But who got to write the rules?

Why do we call this world sane

when all can see that it's cruel?

If they catch you in the act,

it is best to simply comply.

Any deviation from directions

and you will be kept inside.

So hold your tongue tightly

lest they overhear a clue

when you question whether four

can be more than two plus two.
